Bocani offers complete kit solutions for the Canadian, US and European markets. The criteria to be met for approval by the municipality may vary and depend on several factors. Basically, our stair and railing products follow the National Building Code (NBC) in its most recent official version (2015). This includes minimum and maximum height & depth of steps, tolerated differentials (5mm and 10mm total), the minimum railing heights according to the installation location, the diameter of the handrail, as well as the maximum opening of 100mm (for our model with glass panels, including our unique system of glass strips for the staircase section). We use 8mm thick, non-laminated safety tempered glass, exceeding the required ¼ inch (6.35mm) minimum in many countries. Our stainless steel hardware allows, if necessary, the use of your own glass panels up to 12.5 mm (½ inch) thick. For the structure of our central staircase stringer, we also provide approved engineering documents for the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. These also facilitate the approval of residential projects by our clients in other provinces, states or countries. Finally, if you have specific needs for a particular project, do not hesitate to request it by including all the details.

In order to offer the best quality at the best price, Bocani specializes in modular solutions from machined and laser-cut parts. True custom-made products often require craftwork, which jeopardizes both quality and price. 

So, the “modular” principle offers the best of both worlds: the possibility of meeting your specific needs while offering the best quality and price, and no nasty surprises!

Indeed, certain companies will be better suited to meet any needs you may have regarding cast iron, aluminum “utility” poles or custom-made stair assemblies such as spiral staircases.

We often work on commercial projects as well. Most of our products fit very well in all types of spaces and decors, both structurally and aesthetically. Don’t hesitate to contact us for more information on a specific project.

Our only outdoor products are outdoor handrails and banisters. These products are made of weatherproof materials suitable for all types of climates. All products are designed for outdoor use only.

We conduct assembly work, light machining (cutting, drilling, surface finishing, etc.), quality control and packaging work. Parts can come from Quebec, Ontario, Italy, China, the United States and elsewhere.

We work mainly with the color of brushed stainless steel, that is to say a metallic color, typical of steel, slightly shiny but never glossy (neither chrome nor mirror) thanks to a coarse polishing. This gives a luxurious finish, timeless and easy to match with most other materials and decors. Then we offer some components painted in satin matte black, such as the sides of our railing’s posts and also our stair stringer’s blocks. Regarding our bamboo treads, the choice is wider since it’s possible to have the tailor-made oil that will tint according to your tastes and your needs, to match, for example, your floor.

For practical reasons, it’s unfortunately not possible to have all the parts of our railing kit in the color black. Several components must fit into each other and a painted surface would get damaged during installation or even worse, it would be impossible to assemble and / or screw them due to the thickness of the paint. We therefore use a combination of brushed stainless steel and other components in satin matte black finishes, for all of our "black" railing posts.
On the other hand, the model of our staircase stringers named 'Black on black' is entirely in the color black. Regarding bamboo treads, it's possible to stain them very dark but never as black as the painting on our steel parts, it's just not the same type of material.

Our favorite materials are: painted carbon steel, brushed stainless steel, bamboo and clear tempered glass. We are constantly striving to make the most of the strongest, most beautiful and most accessible materials for all budgets.

Few materials on our planet can boast the physical properties as interesting as stainless steel. It's life is theoretically infinite. That said, contrary to the myth, stainless steel (commonly called "inox") can really rust but almost never in depth or structural way-you can clean it! And, unlike aluminum, stainless steel is an extremely hard, strong and resistant metal. In short, for a railing, it's the ultimate in reliability and durability.

No. Our installations only allow us to assemble parts that are mainly made of steel and composite materials. If you’d like a wooden handrail instead of the stainless steel ones we offer, you’ll have to contact a cabinetmaker. Our modular stairs are offered in bamboo. Although bamboo is not technically wood, it’s the only product that we offer that resembles it. Bamboo can be stained or oiled like wood.

Although the total price is an estimate, it’s an excellent starting point. Yes, of course. It’s actually one of the reasons why our products are cost effective. When you place an order with us, you buy directly from the assembly plant. Although contractors, architects and designers appreciate our products, we sell our products directly to individuals.

Yes, absolutely! Our products are offered worldwide via our website; however, given the nature of our products, we don’t have a shopping cart system but rather a very efficient online quote system. It’s to your advantage since we take the time to examine your project before confirming an order, which helps to avoid surprises. Once everything is to your liking, you can place an order online, enjoy home delivery and get technical support via our website or our team of technicians if necessary.

We send quotes by email. Make sure to check your junk mail as our email may be in there. Note that in times of high demand, delays are longer. If your project is urgent, do not hesitate to change to the "Self-service" option, contact us directly for more details.

Bocani sells directly to the public and supports those who like DIY projects. So, everything has been thought out to reduce installation time, complexity and the tools required.

The banister poles and central stringer stair blocks are prepared in advance at our plant and offered as a kit. As with any kit, part of the installation must be completed on site. In most cases: light drilling, screwing and inserting rods or placing glass panels. We try to prepare the material in advance as much as possible in order to ease installation, and the specialized tools are included.

Bocani sells the material and a few tools required for installation. All of our products are designed for easy self-installation. Our website and team of technicians can help you if necessary; however, if you don’t wish to complete the installation yourself, contact us for installer references.

No problem. We know that last-minute changes are common for this type of project. We’ll do whatever we can to help you. Just contact us as soon as possible. We’re specialized in architectural solutions but also in solutions period!

No problem. We’ll replace your sections for free (plus shipping) both for handrail tubes and rods. You only have to pay for the price difference if there is one. Bocani’s modular concept was thought out to simplify things: if your measurements weren’t accurate or your project has changed, we’ll make new sections. We want your project to be to your liking first and foremost!

Once you’ve explored our website, go to the product Configurator (when available) or contact us. If you then approve the quote, we’ll convert it to an order for which you’ll be able to pay the deposit (20% of the total amount of the order including taxes).

We’ll contact you to let you know & make the necessary pick-up (at our Laval offices) or carrier shipping arrangements for the material. 

Orders must be paid in full, including transportation costs, before leaving our offices.

Your quote will indicate the approximate time needed to assemble your order. Once everything has been prepared, we’ll contact you so that you can pick up the order the same day or next day. If the order is delivered right to your door, you must add the transportation time. Please note that the usual delay for staircase product orders is approximately 12 to 20 weeks, depending on your project. If a specific date or delivery time is required, you must let us know before placing the order so that we can make sure that it’s feasible.

No, they don’t. We charge the same transportation costs that we pay. In Canada, we ship our products by road carrier or mail.

Given that renovation projects may change at the last minute, we understand that you may have to return part of your order. That’s why Bocani offers a 90-day delay for exchanges or reimbursements, as of the shipping date, on all products and accessories that haven’t been altered or custom made for your project. If more than 20% of the total value of an order is returned, restocking fees will be charged. We do whatever is reasonably possible to accommodate our clients!

We offer a 10-year limited warranty on products installed indoors and a 5-year limited warranty on products installed outdoors. This warranty covers any design, manufacturing or material defect for normal use. Please let us know from the start if you plan on using the product(s) in a busy area or in a public/industrial place. We’re confident that, under normal use, you’ll get to enjoy our products trouble free for decades!

It’s important to note that our painted steel or standard stainless steel products, designed for indoor use, cannot be installed outdoors or in a chemical/saline or unheated indoor environment (e.g. cottage) given the high risk of corrosion; however, all of our outdoor products are resistant to corrosion up to a certain limit. For example, none of our products are designed to be in direct contact with salted or chlorinated water. Contact us with your project details in case of doubt.
